Firstly, we’re changing the name of the Steam version from Uncraft Me Ultimate to Uncraft World ! This new name reflects our desire to make the PC version focus on creating a great sense of community around the game.
We’re happy to announce that in addition to the map editor that will have thorough sharing capabilities, the Steam version will also feature both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes. We have cool new concepts to introduce for the multiplayer modes though for now I’ll keep it at that ;-D
The first look at the competitive mode will be live at Anime/Manga festival Otakuthon 2014 in Montreal on august 22, 23, 24 at the Palais des Congrès. We will have a small booth where you can come meet me and play a quick multiplayer demo against a friend. We will also sell prints of some goddesses, soundtrack cds and miscellaneous art books and cards from one of our collaborating artist : Shawli Chen (NSFW)
EDIT – Due to the question coming back often, here’s our current POSITION ON RELEASE DATE :
As far as release date, we’re considering 2 possibilities :
1 : Steam early access in late 2014
2 : Free multiplayer demo with 10+ levels but no map editor in late 2014 timed with a Kickstarter campaign and a real final release at or past mid 2015. The free PC multiplayer could possibly also be available on XBOX LIVE INDIE GAMES for 1$ (can’t do free on xbox).
Right now my favorite option would be the Kickstarter and late release, because I believe that to create a good multiplayer community we need a lot of content and tools right from the start so that the ball gets rolling quickly and never loses steam. I also think that Kickstarter would do really well for us because we can offer some compelling physical items (FantomenK soundtrack rocks and the prints we will have at Otakuthon look very good !)
I’m afraid that early access wouldn’t bring enough people / keep them interested long enough so that there’s enough of a critical mass of players for the multiplayer experience to really shine.
